The 9K720 Islander is the Russian Federations faction Ballistic Missile Vehicle, its primary role is to target military command and control posts, ammo depots, troop concentrations and high value targets. It only carries two missile, so you must coordinate your fire with other units either AI control or in multiplayer and must be resupplied after firing its missiles.

The vehicle has two attack modes in the first mode, the static attack mode, the player selected a target on the MFD using either the mouse on the map, targeting pod from a UAV, or manually enter the coordinates on the weapon selection panel; once a static target is entered the missile will be ready to fire.

The second attack mode, mid-course attack mode, will come with the guide weapons update, once it has reached it terminal phase the player can take control of the missile using a jam proof data link. While you are guiding the missile the launch vehicle must remain deployed and you are unable to move until the datalink is cut. During this time you are completely exposed and easy prey for aircraft targeting you.

The Ballistic Missile Vehicle generally has lots of fuel and doesn’t need to refuel often compared to tanks or heavy armor. Its best driven on flat terrain and must be level to fire its main weapon. The vehicle lacks any defensive systems, no smoke grenades or armor so even light arms can damage the vehicle. Avoid the front lines and aircraft by stay in cover until you get accurate target coordinates.
